ACT-CIS Representative Edvic Yap has resigned from his congressional post amid a controversy surrounding his alleged involvement in a flood control corruption scandal. The House majority announced Yap’s resignation on the plenary floor Wednesday, February 4, after receiving a letter from the representative.
Edvic Yap Resignation
The resignation follows an investigation into alleged corruption within public works projects. Ombudsman Boying Remulla stated in October that Yap received funds via bank transfer from flood control contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya prior to the pandemic.
In December, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the Court of Appeals had frozen the personal accounts of Yap and his brother, Benguet Representative Eric Yap, as well as companies linked to them: Silverwolves Construction and Sky Yard Aviation Corporation.
Eric Yap is believed to be the beneficial owner of Silverwolves, which secured over P16 billion in public works projects between 2022 and 2025.
