German technology firm Brinell Compute GmbH plans to build a multi-billion-euro artificial intelligence factory in the new Stryama Industrial Park near Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The project, designed for data processing and storage, follows a 2026 government memorandum and is slated to begin construction by the end of this year, according to reporting by Plovdiv24.bg.
Project Titan: The Stryama Industrial Park Development
The facility, internally referred to as “Project Titan,is set to occupy a 245-dekar site in the locality of
Nazuritsa 1″ within the village of Stryama. The factory will serve as the anchor tenant for the newly established Stryama Industrial Park, which functions as part of the broader Rakovski Industrial Zone within the Trakia Economic Zone (TEZ).
The development represents a significant push for regional infrastructure. TEZ founder Plamen Panchev presented the park’s master plan—which encompasses a total area of 2,000 dekars on the territory of Rakovski municipality—during a working meeting with Alexander Pulev, the vice prime minister and minister of economy, investments, and industry. Although the park is located in Rakovski, the entire supply infrastructure routes through the Maritsa municipality. Deputy Minister of Economy Krassimir Yakimov stated that the site is expected to receive a Class A investment certificate by the end of August, with construction activities potentially starting by September 30 with state support.
The expansion of the Rakovski Industrial Zone is intended to attract new companies and create quality jobs. According to municipal officials, the project is an investment in the future—a chance for young people to stay and develop in Rakovski, and for the local economy to continue to grow with confidence and perspective. The site is also slated to house a new base for the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection – Plovdiv. The Maritsa municipality has already secured the land and a building for this purpose in the village of Kalekovets.
Brinell Compute’s Strategic Expansion
Brinell Compute GmbH, the entity behind the multibillion-euro investment, was registered in Munich in September 2025 with a capital of 25,000 euros. The company plans to develop and build next-generation AI factories, with a stated focus on creating the digital infrastructure of tomorrow. According to the company’s website, its team has successfully realized over 4 GW of utility-scale energy infrastructure across Europe, securing over 2.5 billion euros financing for energy projects. The company is led by Managing Director Thilo Marcel Braun, with Brinell Group and Philipp Merck’s Gordias Capital GmbH serving as shareholders with equal stakes.
The project is underpinned by a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the government of Bulgaria and Brinell Compute GmbH in early 2026. The facility is expected to include a specialized data center, which will handle the management, processing, and storage of information.
Regional Institutional Support
The Rakovski Industrial Zone expansion has gained support from a wide array of government and environmental bodies. A recent coordination meeting included representatives from the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIOSV), the Regional Health Inspectorate (RZI), the Basin Directorate, the Regional Road Administration, and the municipalities of Rakovski and Maritsa. All participating institutions declared their support for the realization of the project.
Separate AI Initiatives in Tundzha
While the Plovdiv-area project moves forward, other regions in Bulgaria are also pursuing AI-related infrastructure. The Municipal Council in Tundzha is set to review a proposal from a private investor, “Kampus Tenevo” EOOD, a company registered in Sofia, to build a campus of data centers for artificial intelligence. This high-tech project is valued at approximately 100 million euros.

For the Tundzha project, the municipal council must provide preliminary consent for the sale of over 188 dekars of municipal land without a tender or competition. The terrain consists of 188,211 square meters of third and fourth-category agricultural land, with the majority located in the “Partselite-2area near the village of Okop and the remainder in the
Adata” area near Tenevo. According to a report submitted by Tundzha Mayor Stancho Stavrev, the project is expected to create approximately 50 new jobs. The company is currently in the process of obtaining a certificate for a priority investment project from the Bulgarian Investment Agency, and the requested municipal council decision is a required document for that procedure.
