Law enforcement officials in Mumbai dismantled a sex trafficking operation following a targeted raid on a luxury hotel located in the Girgaon district. According to reporting by aajtak.in, the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) initiated the operation after receiving confidential information regarding illegal activities at the venue. To verify the allegations before officers moved to secure the premises, the police deployed a decoy customer to the hotel.

During the raid, authorities rescued two women identified as having backgrounds in the film industry. Police officials stated that one of the women is an actress from the Marathi film industry, while the other has worked in cameo and supporting roles in Hindi and Bengali films. Following their rescue, both women were moved to safety, and the necessary legal procedures were completed. A makeup artist was arrested at the scene; police allege that he was acting as an agent and managing the entire network by establishing contact between customers and the women involved. According to police officials, a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections, and authorities are currently investigating the duration of the racket and the number of individuals involved. Furthermore, the role of the hotel management is also under investigation by the agencies.

As the month of Sawan begins, the city’s streets have turned saffron, and factories are operating day and night to meet the demand for specialized clothing worn by devotees of Lord Shiva. According to reports, the Kanwar Yatra has once again provided a significant boost to Saharanpur’s business sector, with shops crowded by buyers and factories racing to fulfill orders.

A notable aspect of this production cycle is the workforce, which includes a significant number of Muslim artisans who participate with enthusiasm. Factory owner Farman Ahmed, who has been involved in sewing and producing Kanwar dresses since 2010, stated that the work is not merely a business but a symbol of mutual brotherhood and trust. For the current season, production has already exceeded one lakh units in his factory alone, featuring approximately 50 new designs. Ahmed noted that there is a particularly high demand for items printed with themes related to Mahakal and Bholenath this year.

The manufacturing process requires coordination well in advance, with preparations often beginning one to one-and-a-half months before the Sawan season to ensure all orders are completed on time. Merchants from different parts of the country travel to Saharanpur during this period to procure the inventory. Ahmed emphasized that for the artisans, creating these dresses is a matter of pride, happiness, and respect, viewing the Sawan season as being as important to their business as the winter season.
