Greater Manchester Police Launch Murder Investigation After Teen Dies in New Moston

Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation after a teenage boy died following a violent incident on Nevin Road in New Moston on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Three suspects are currently in custody as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack, which involved an emergency response in a nearby park.

Greater Manchester Police murder investigation on Nevin Road

The incident on Nevin Road occurred as emergency services, including police and paramedics, were called to the scene. The residential street was taped off, and forensic investigators were called to the location. An air ambulance was scrambled to the area, landing in nearby Nuthurst Park at around 5 p.m. Witnesses claimed the teenager was attacked near the Fairway Inn pub before running to a property on Nevin Road. Locals reported the victim, thought to be aged 13, was stabbed before seeking help at a nearby house.

Bedfordshire Police investigations into Luton knife violence

In other recent incidents, Bedfordshire Police launched a murder investigation after a teenage boy died following a stabbing in Luton. In that case, police responded to reports of violent disorder in Kingsway Recreation Ground at about 18:30 on a Friday, where a number of teenagers were seen carrying large knives. A 17-year-old was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds but was pronounced dead shortly after. In a separate incident in Luton, Bedfordshire Police were called to reports that three teenagers had been knifed on Nunnery Lane at around 7 p.m. on a Friday. A 16-year-old boy died in hospital following that attack, while a second victim was reported as “potentially” fighting for their life.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardener of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit addressed the impact of such violence, stating: Horrific violence in Luton has sadly cost a teenage boy his life today. Our thoughts are first and foremost with the loved ones of the boy who lost his life in such tragic circumstances. He added that the force is aware of images and videos circulating on social media and urged the public to refrain from sharing any such footage and instead contact police.

Kent Police and Metropolitan Police murder investigations

In Kent, a murder investigation was launched after a 19-year-old man was found with injuries consistent with stab wounds inside a terraced home in Thorold Road, Chatham. Kent Police were called at 3:11 a.m. on a Tuesday following reports of an assault. A man in his 30s from Chatham was arrested in connection with that incident. Similarly, in South London, the Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation after 26-year-old Marjama Osman was fatally stabbed in Croydon on May 31, 2025. Officers were called to Frith Road at 9:07 a.m. following reports of a disturbance, and detectives believe Osman was assaulted inside her flat before collapsing in the street.

Luton Crown Court murder convictions

Legal proceedings regarding such attacks have also progressed in the courts. Recently, a teenager was convicted of murder following the stabbing of 17-year-old Thomas Taylor near Bedford bus station. Bennett Ndenkeh, 19, was found guilty of murder at Luton Crown Court, while Riaz Miah, 18, was convicted of manslaughter. Additionally, a 17-year-old boy was found guilty of murder for the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Derrick Kinyua in Luton. The investigation established that four people confronted Mr. Kinyua, with two individuals seen on CCTV carrying large knives and lunging at him.

In the New Moston investigation, authorities remain focused on the scene near the Fairway Inn pub, which was the subject of police searches throughout the evening following the Sunday incident.
