Following their win for Outstanding Animated Program at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s South Park celebrated with a pointed jab at Donald Trump. According to reports, the official X account posted an image of the president’s face on a cartoon body with his pants down, holding an Emmy while surrounded by characters including Cartman, Kyle, and Satan, accompanied by the message, You finally got your Emmy,
though the post was subsequently unavailable.
The Emmy History Between Trump and South Park
The satirical dig highlights a stark contrast in television accolades between the animated series and the president. Trump received two Emmy nominations in 2004 and 2005 as an executive producer for The Apprentice in the Outstanding Reality-Competition Program category, but never secured a win. In contrast, South Park has accumulated six Emmy wins out of 21 nominations, with Stone and Parker having been inducted into the 28th Television Academy Hall of Fame earlier in 2026.

Trump’s frustration with the television awards is well-documented. As noted by The Independent, Trump wrote on X in 2012 that The Emmys were horrendous…the absolute worst show,
and added that The Emmys are all politics, that’s why, despite nominations, The Apprentice never won — even though it should have many times over.
During a 2016 presidential debate, Hillary Clinton referenced those posts, noting that There was even a time when he didn’t get an Emmy for his TV program three years in a row, and he started tweeting that the Emmys were rigged against him,
to which Trump replied, Should have gotten it.
Across its 15-season run, The Apprentice earned eight Emmy nominations.
Controversial Season 27 and the Winning Episode
The victory arrived following a heavily anti-Trump Season 27, which drove a massive spike in viewership. The season premiere, Sermon On The ‘Mount,
captured the 2026 Emmy despite—or perhaps because of—facing severe backlash from the White House. That specific episode featured a depiction of Trump in bed with Satan, a deepfake PSA sequence showing him naked in the desert with a talking micropenis, and references urging the public to move past the Epstein list,
following the show’s earlier Season 28 closer featuring a Jeffrey Epstein twist.
When questioned about the controversial episode at San Diego’s Comic-Con International in July, Parker and Stone simply stared at the audience and stated, We’re terribly sorry,
according to coverage of the event. The co-creators elaborated on their creative philosophy in an interview with The New York Times last year, explaining that It’s not that we got all political,
with Parker adding, It’s that politics became pop culture.
Stone further noted that criticizing the administration had become taboo,
explaining, Trey and I are attracted to that like flies to honey. Oh, that’s where the taboo is? Over there? OK, then we’re over there.
Parker also emphasized their equal-opportunity satire, stating, We’re just very down-the-middle guys. Any extremists of any kind we make fun of. We did it for years with the woke thing. That was hilarious to us. And this is hilarious to us.

As the White House has not responded to either the Emmy win or the social media post as of publication, production continues on the franchise. South Park Season 29 is scheduled to premiere on September 16 at 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central, with subsequent streaming available on Paramount+.
