Trump Media Launches Truth API for High-Speed Access to Truth Social Posts

Trump Media & Technology Group has launched Truth API, a premium subscription service providing Wall Street firms ultra-fast access to posts from high-ranking Truth Social accounts, including President Donald Trump. The service costs up to $100,000 per month, sparking accusations of insider trading and ethical breaches from lawmakers and financial experts.

The world’s most powerful man is now a subscription service. Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) has commercialized the milliseconds between a post being published and appearing on a standard screen, targeting high-frequency traders who treat presidential pronouncements as market-moving information.

By bypassing slower internet connections with direct lines, subscribers can receive posts from the platform’s most influential users—most notably President Trump, who has nearly 13 million followers—fractions of a second before the general public.

The $100,000 Price Tag and Revenue Stakes

The cost of this speed is steep. According to NPR and the BBC, the premium service reportedly costs up to $100,000 per month. For firms seeking a longer-term arrangement, TMTG has pitched a discounted plan at $60,000 per month, provided the client signs a three-year contract.

For TMTG, the financial incentive is massive.

Kevin McGurn, interim CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group, stated that the API is intended to monetize proprietary assets through a high-margin, recurring revenue stream, noting that markets already move based on Truth Social posts.

Insider Trading Allegations and the ‘Retail Loser’

The service has ignited a firestorm over the distinction between public and nonpublic information. Critics argue that selling a head start on government policy is not a “free market” innovation but a violation of ethics. Irene Aldridge, head of Able Alpha Trading, pointed out the stark difference between a social media platform and a corporate entity.

The potential for profit is concrete. In a single month, President Trump used the platform to threaten higher tariffs on Canada and scuttle a nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia. Traders with a millisecond advantage could bet on the Canadian dollar’s fall or a surge in oil futures before the average user even refreshes their feed.

Joe Saluzzi, co-founder of Themis Trading, argues that Truth Social’s claim—that information is released simultaneously—is a red herring. He contends the critical factor is when the data is received and processed by AI-powered systems.

Saluzzi added that in this environment, the loser is always the retail investor.

Bipartisan Backlash and SEC Demands

The pushback has not been limited to Democrats.

Truth Social selling early access to Trump's posts
  • Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska): Called the scheme wild and questioned the propriety of using the presidency to enhance personal wealth.
  • Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.): Described the service as a form of buying access that rewards those already doing well.
  • Sen. Susan Collins (R): Stated that the plan does not sound appropriate.

TMTG’s Defense of ‘Free Market’ Access

TMTG has dismissed the outcry as politically motivated.

The company maintains that the API simply provides faster access to public information. However, the scope of the feed extends beyond the president. The service includes posts from other high ranking contributors, potentially including Donald Jr. and Eric Trump, who are also heavily followed by users.
