A Saturday afternoon outing in Sacramento’s Arden-Arcade area turned deadly near Arden Way, leaving one woman killed and another injured. Sacramento Police Department officers rushed to the scene following emergency calls reporting gunfire.

The violence erupted around 3:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Arden Way, just outside the Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park and across the street from the Arden Fair mall. First responders arrived to find two adult women suffering from gunshot wounds.

Dispatch audio reviewed by reporters indicated that no one inside the business had been struck by bullets when initial responders entered the facility. However, the heavy concentration of people in the commercial zone created significant challenges for emergency crews.

As emergency vehicles converged on the 1700 block of Arden Way, law enforcement officials called for reinforcements. According to dispatch records, more than 100 people, including many children, were in the immediate vicinity as the crisis unfolded, prompting officers to manage the large crowd.

Sacramento Police Department spokesperson Officer Marcos Moreno provided updates to the public as the afternoon progressed. Authorities confirmed that investigators believe there was only a single shooter involved in the attack, and the assailant left the area before police arrived.

By shortly after 5:15 p.m., police announced that there was no active threat to the public, though officers had not yet released identifying information regarding any suspects as the homicide investigation continued into the evening.
