Appeal on 21st anniversary of Donegal man’s murder

Irish police have reissued an appeal for information regarding the murder of Shaun Duffy, which occurred 21 years ago in County Donegal.

Mr. Duffy, 36, was attacked and fatally wounded at his home in Mín na Croise outside An Clochán Liath in the early hours of January 29, 2005.

He was a bachelor known in the area, working as both an undertaker and a mechanic. Mr. Duffy also had interests in motor racing and horse sales.

On January 28, 2005, Mr. Duffy socialized at the Strand View Bar in An Machaire, West Donegal Gaeltacht, celebrating his younger brother Kevin’s birthday with friends and family.

Following the pub visit, Mr. Duffy continued socializing at his mother’s house in Mín na Croise before returning home around 2:30 a.m.

He was attacked at his home in Mín na Croise shortly after, and his body was discovered there shortly before 2:30 p.m. on January 29, 2005.

Gardaí believe that individuals with information relevant to the case have not yet come forward and may now be able to assist in bringing those responsible to justice.

Investigating gardaí stated that any information received will be treated with strict confidentiality.
