Herman Mashaba to Contest Johannesburg Mayoral Race
Mashaba was unveiled as the candidate in Soweto after being selected from a shortlist of five potential nominees. The 2026 mayoral race is anticipated to be highly competitive.
Johannesburg is currently facing significant challenges, including deteriorating infrastructure, failures in service delivery, and a growing water crisis. Mashaba stated his campaign will prioritize addressing these issues and “fixing the city.”
