Cabby, passenger taken to hospital after PIE accident causes ComfortDelGro taxi to overturn

A taxi driver and his passenger were hospitalized after a ComfortDelGro taxi overturned on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on the morning of Jan. 8.

Taxi Accident on PIE Sends Two to Hospital

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the accident at approximately 7:15 a.m. The collision involved a car and a taxi, occurring on the PIE towards Tuas, after the Jurong Town Hall exit.

A 70-year-old taxi driver and a 31-year-old passenger were transported to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Authorities stated that both men were conscious at the time of the incident.

Police are investigating the accident and a 68-year-old male car driver is assisting with inquiries.

Images and videos shared on social media depict a yellow ComfortDelGro taxi overturned in the expressway’s rightmost lane.

ComfortDelGro confirmed the accident and stated they are providing assistance to those involved and cooperating with the authorities.

“We are monitoring the situation closely and providing all assistance as needed,” a company spokesperson said.
