Karachi, Pakistan – Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has approved the development of a specialized job portal and integrated grievance redressal system designed to improve employment opportunities and support for individuals with disabilities across the province.
Sindh to Launch Job Portal for Persons with Disabilities
The decision was made during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House on Thursday, where CM Shah emphasized the importance of empowering persons with disabilities through technology and institutional support. He stated that inclusion is not merely a policy, but a moral imperative, and a fundamental element of the Sindh Employment of Persons with Disabilities Act 2018.
The Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act 2018 aims to protect the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, ensuring their full participation in social, educational, and professional life. The Sindh government is committed to providing legal protection and equal opportunities, enabling independent and dignified participation in society.
CM Shah stressed the need for specialized institutions and support systems, including a central database for persons with disabilities and the issuance of disability certificates. He also highlighted provisions such as a mandatory 5% job quota in all government departments, inclusive educational policies, and province-wide awareness campaigns.
“This law reflects Sindh’s commitment to rights-based governance and inclusive development. Empowering persons with disabilities is central to our social policy,” CM Shah said.
The approved plan includes a partnership with Sukkur IBA to develop the job portal, which will utilize AI-based job matching and be accessible in Sindhi, Urdu, and English. The portal will also establish a direct connection between the Sindh government and persons with disabilities, promoting transparency and merit-based recruitment within provincial departments.
