Deadly shooting in Ravensmead claims man’s life

A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in Ravensmead on Tuesday afternoon while police were investigating a crime scene. Separately, police arrested a man and several others in connection with firearms and drug possession across the Western Cape.

Ravensmead Shooting Investigation

Police confirmed the shooting occurred on Edgar Bullock Street in Ravensmead. “A 25-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded,” said police spokesperson Constable Ndakhe Gwala. A murder investigation has been registered, and the motive remains undetermined.

Wesbank Firearm Arrest

A 53-year-old man allegedly affiliated with a Wesbank gang was arrested Wednesday morning after a raid on his home. Anti-Gang Unit officers discovered a 9mm pistol with nine rounds of ammunition at the residence on Framesby Street.

“Members of the Anti-Gang Unit…received intelligence about a firearm hidden at an address in Framesby Street,” Gwala stated. The suspect faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court once charged.

Delft Weapons and Drug Seizures

Lockdown III members arrested two individuals in Delft on Tuesday for possession of dangerous weapons during routine stop and searches. A 22-year-old male was found with a weapon on Amur Street, and a 35-year-old female was found with another on Eindhoven Street.

During a search of a home on Ebro Street in Delft around 10 p.m. Tuesday, officers confiscated 25 sachets of tik and arrested a 31-year-old woman for possession of illegal drugs.

All three suspects are scheduled to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on the charges.
