The Diocese of Kilmore has announced the passing of Father Philip Brady, a late priest of the diocese, on January 6, 2026. Father Brady, formerly of Legwee Bridge, Bruskey, Cavan, passed away peacefully.
Obituary
Father Brady is predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Roseanne Brady, his infant sister Teresa, sisters Margaret Mollahan and Rosie Galligan, brother Ned, aunt Molly, brother-in-law Michael Tully, and nephew James Tully.
He is deeply mourned by his sister, Maryann Tully, and brothers John (Pat), Paddy (Lily), Monsignor James Brady, and Hughie (Maggie). He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Phil Galligan and John Mollahan, sister-in-law Kathleen Brady, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.
Bishop Martin Hayes, Bishop Emeritus Leo O’Reilly, fellow priests, former parishioners, and many friends also remember Father Brady fondly.
Funeral Arrangements
Father Brady will repose at the home of his nephew, Padraig Brady, at Legwee Bridge, Bruskey (H12XE97) on Thursday, January 8th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. for family, neighbors, and close friends. He will also repose in St. Mary’s Church, Bruskey, Ballinagh, Cavan (H12XO67) on Friday, January 9th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday, January 10th, at 12 noon in St. Mary’s Church, Bruskey, with interment to follow in the church grounds.
