Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in various fields, including counter-terrorism, security, and economic development under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The pledges were made during high-level meetings between Pakistani and Chinese officials in recent days.

Pakistan, China Deepen Cooperation on Counter-Terrorism

Both nations vowed to enhance counter-terrorism cooperation and called for more “visible, verifiable” actions to eliminate terrorist groups based in Afghanistan. This commitment comes amid concerns over regional security and the potential for cross-border terrorism.

Strengthening Bilateral and Multilateral Coordination

Pakistan and China agreed to strengthen coordination at both bilateral and multilateral forums. This includes collaboration on regional and international issues of mutual interest, aiming to promote peace and stability.

Advancing CPEC in a Secure Manner

Officials from both countries expressed their determination to advance the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in a secure manner. CPEC, a flagship project of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, is vital for Pakistan’s economic growth and regional connectivity.

Pakistan Reaffirms Position on Taiwan

Pakistan reiterated its stance that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. This reaffirmation was communicated through the Foreign Office, underscoring Pakistan’s long-standing “One China” policy.

Discussions also included deepening cooperation between the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and Pakistani counterparts, aiming to further enhance economic ties.
