Twin brothers from Magione, Italy, were killed in a tragic accident involving the fatal electrocution of twin brothers while training pet birds for the upcoming hunting season.
Francesco and Giacomo Fierloni, both 22, died after accidentally coming into contact with high-voltage cables. The incident occurred when a pigeon landed on power lines carrying approximately 20,000 volts, situated about 10 metres above the ground.
Details of the Fatal Electrocution
One of the brothers attempted to usher the bird down using a carbon-fibre pole commonly used in hunting. It is believed he inadvertently touched the live wires, resulting in his instant death.
Investigators believe the second brother was electrocuted while attempting to save his twin. Paramedics later attempted to resuscitate the pair, but both succumbed to their injuries.
The brothers were discovered by their father, Giorgio, after they failed to return home or answer their phones. They were found lying together in tall grass beneath an embankment, locked in each other’s embrace.
Francesco and Giacomo were one month away from their 23rd birthdays.
Community Response
Town mayor Massimo Lagetti, who knew the twins personally, described them as “two exceptional young men who worked with great dedication and were always extremely kind,” adding that the tragedy is “very hard to come to terms with.”
The twins’ parents told local media that their sons were “our strength, our present and our future,” noting that they were born together and left together, united by a bond that went beyond brotherhood.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact details of the incident.
