Mumbai Metro Bridge Collapse: Family Demands Compensation

The family of the deceased, Ramdhani Yadav, was joined by members of the Yadav community in their protest. Police intervened and took the family to the Mulund police station for discussion, which is ongoing. Local MLA Mohit Kotecha and former MP Manoj Kotak are also in talks with the family.

Community members have given the government a deadline of 5 p.m. to provide a written assurance regarding the compensation and job request, warning of a potential road blockade if their demands are not met.

Yadav was the elected head of Bharthani village in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, representing the Samajwadi Party.

Family Alleges Initial Compensation Offer Was Insufficient

Shashikant Yadav, a relative of the deceased, alleged that officials from the contracting company offered a compensation of ₹15 lakh, along with ₹5 lakh in relief from the government. The family rejected this offer and refused to take custody of the body.

The family stated that Yadav is survived by three daughters, and the proposed compensation would be insufficient to cover their education and future marriage expenses.

Details of the Accident

Ramdhani Yadav was killed and three others were injured on Saturday when a parapet segment of the elevated, under-construction metro train bridge fell onto an auto rickshaw and a car on LBS Road in Mulund. The auto rickshaw in which Yadav was traveling was completely crushed.

The injured were identified as Rajkumar Indrajeet Yadav (45), Mahendra Pratap Yadav (52), and Deepa Ruhiya (40). Rajkumar Yadav was in critical condition and admitted to the ICU of a nearby hospital, according to a fire brigade official.

An FIR was registered Saturday evening at the Mulund police station against officials of Milan Road Buildtech and DB Hill LBG under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and other charges. Project director Harish Chauhan, project manager Kuldeep Sapkal, deputy manager Saurab Singh, supervisor Prashant Bhoir of Milan Road Buildtech, and project manager Avdhoot Inamdar of DB Hill LBG were subsequently arrested.
