/ March The head of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, Sultan Al Jaber, on Sunday put more pressure on the countries gathered in Dubai to resolve their differences over fossil fuels, before Tuesday, the day scheduled for the conclusion of the conference.

Al-Jaber called on the countries participating in the conference to work harder, be flexible, and accept compromises to reach an agreement on dealing with the climate change crisis, including putting forward a formulation for the first time related to the future of fossil fuels.

Al-Jaber’s call came during statements he made to reporters when the negotiators began discussing some of the most controversial issues in the agreement, such as the future of fossil fuels. A new draft of the agreement that the parties are supposed to agree to at the conclusion of the conference is scheduled to be published on Monday morning.

Al Jaber called on countries to moderate their ambition regarding the agreement, considering that “failure is not an option. We seek to achieve the interest of everyone,” before the ministers present at the COP28 conference met, according to Emirati tradition, in a council to discuss the matters at hand on an equal footing. He also added, “Everyone must be able to “With flexibility…we need to find consensus and common ground on fossil fuels, including coal.”

The head of the UAE oil giant ADNOC said, “This is the first presidency of the climate conference that called on all parties to propose common ground and consensus on fossil fuels. It is time for all parties to participate constructively and propose another formula.”
