Four adults were rescued from an 11-meter pleasure craft after a boat fire broke out approximately 1.5 miles northeast of Dún Laoghaire.
The Coast Guard received a distress call from the occupants of the vessel at approximately 3:45 p.m. reporting a fire on board.
Emergency Response to Dún Laoghaire Boat Fire
The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre Dublin alerted the Dún Laoghaire RNLI, which launched a lifeboat that arrived on the scene at approximately 3:56 p.m.
The four adults were successfully rescued and taken ashore. They were subsequently assessed at the Dún Laoghaire RNLI station by HSE and fire service personnel.
The rescue was a multiagency operation involving the Dún Laoghaire Coast Guard Unit, Dún Laoghaire RNLI, Dublin Fire Brigade, Dublin Port, the National Ambulance Service, and gardaí.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., the fire was reported as extinguished and the vessel sank.
