France & UNICEF: Supporting Children Worldwide 🇫🇷🌍

France has reaffirmed its support for UNICEF, highlighting the agency’s critical role in protecting children’s rights amidst growing global challenges and dwindling resources. The nation pledged continued financial assistance and collaboration with UNICEF in addressing humanitarian needs, particularly for children affected by conflict.

France Stands by UNICEF Amidst Global Challenges

France paid tribute to UNICEF and its teams, recognizing their decisive work on the ground and commitment to protecting children’s rights under difficult circumstances. The organization is universally respected for its effective action in more than 190 countries, serving as a symbol of global solidarity.

France supported UNICEF’s actions in 2025 in the Great Lakes region, Syria, Haiti, Sudan, Gaza, Ukraine, Jordan, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. This support will continue into 2026, with a specific focus on combating grave violations against children in conflict zones. The French Committee for UNICEF, a major financial partner, also contributes significantly to the agency’s work.

With more than 200 million children projected to need humanitarian aid in 2026, and the potential for the first increase in child mortality this century, France emphasized the need for collective action. The nation expressed confidence in UNICEF’s continued leadership in key UN initiatives, including the UN 80 initiative and the humanitarian compact.

France welcomed UNICEF’s efforts to strengthen budgetary transparency, optimize spending and staffing, and enhance technical expertise, aligning with other humanitarian actors. These efforts, guided by international humanitarian law and the “Paris Principles and Commitments,” aim to protect children from recruitment by armed groups.

In a context marked by tensions and questioning of multilateral institutions, France reiterated its commitment to UNICEF and its partners in meeting the needs of the world’s most vulnerable children.
