BBC Announces Celebrity Gladiators Lineup Featuring AJ Odudu and Chris Ramsey

According to the official BBC announcement, the brave quadrant of celebrities taking on the challenge consists of AJ Odudu, Chris Ramsey, George Clarke, and Sara Pascoe. Production for the special is handled by Hungry Bear Media and MGM Alternative UK, a division of Amazon MGM Studios.

What the Stars Have Said About Entering the Arena

The confirmed celebrities have shared mixed feelings of childhood nostalgia and apprehension regarding the intense physical demands of the competition.

AJ Odudu expressed her excitement, stating, I am stepping inside the TV to do the show I wanted to do as a kid, it’s so exciting.

Meanwhile, comedian Chris Ramsey shared a humorous take on taking part. As someone who religiously watched Gladiators as a kid, it’s beyond incredible to be taking part in the show myself! Ramsey said. However, a large part of me does wish it could have been while I was in my 20’s and not 40… but there you go. I’m looking forward to the challenge, the excitement, the crowd and going head-to-head with the Gladiators and the inevitable months of rehab and physiotherapy that will no doubt follow.

George Clarke added a lighthearted jab about his wardrobe, noting, I was missing the BBC packing me into a small tight outfit, so Gladiators felt perfect! Unfortunately, I don’t think I can rely on a partner to carry me through this one. Might have to get training!

Sara Pascoe offered a comedic perspective of her own, stating, Celebrity Gladiators is the ideal opportunity for me to live out my childhood dream of humiliating myself on national television.

Classic Events and Returning Hosts

Father-and-son hosting duo Bradley and Barney Walsh will return to front the program, guiding the celebrity contenders through the arena alongside the resident Gladiators.

The brave group of four will battle through a series of fan-favorite events before facing off in the iconic Eliminator. Confirmed events on the schedule include:

The special is produced as a 1 x 60-minute episode by Hungry Bear Media and MGM Alternative UK, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The project was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, the BBC’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning.
