Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Health announced some projects for next year 2024, including the establishment of a pediatric hematology hospital, while clarifying violations attributed to it related to the pollution of the waters of the Tigris River.

The Ministry’s spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, said during the opening of the first phase with three wastewater treatment plants with a capacity of 600 cubic meters in the City of Medicine, in cooperation with UNICEF, to the (INA): “The first phase of the water treatment plant is within the Department of the City of Medicine, with a card.” “A high level for treating wastewater and converting it into water suitable for use within the city complex, including irrigation and other uses.”

Al-Badr added, “This phase was carried out in cooperation with UNICEF and in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, and with the support of the German side and other supporting parties,” stressing that “the first phase will be followed by a second phase that will also increase the treatment capacity of these stations.”

In a separate context, Al-Badr explained that “publishing video clips on social media, showing some pipes flowing into the Tigris River from the direction of the Medical City, and claiming that these are health wastes, is incorrect information,” indicating that “these pipes belong to the Department of Medicine.” The water and sewage station in the Baghdad Municipality, which is the nearby T1 station, is within the vicinity of the Medical City district.

While the Director of the Maintenance Engineering Department in the Medical City Department, Aqeel Sultan, indicated that “the projects for the year 2024 include starting expansion work for the Oncology Teaching Hospital on an area of ​​700 square meters and five floors high, to add new operating, consulting, administration and laboratory rooms, to accommodate the increasing numbers of patients.” “.

He added, “The engineering cadres have begun conducting soil surveys to construct the 150-bed pediatric hematology building, funded by company owners, at a cost of $35 million. As for the preparation, the medical city department will finance it,” stressing: “Within two months, foundation pouring work will begin.” .
