Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed his “full support” for the unprecedented letter sent by UN Secretary-General António Guterres to the UN Security Council demanding the establishment of a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip.

The socialist prime minister wrote on the X platform (formerly Twitter) that, “The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is unbearable. I express my full support for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, in his activation of Article 99 of the United Nations Charter.”
Sanchez, one of the leaders most critical of the Zionist entity in the European Union, called in his publication on the UN Security Council to “act immediately and impose a humanitarian ceasefire” in the ongoing war between the Zionists and Hamas.
On Wednesday, Guterres sent, for the first time since assuming the Secretariat in 2017, a message to the UN Security Council under Article 99 of the Charter of the United Nations, which allows him to “draw the attention” of the Council to a file that “could endanger international peace and security.”
The Secretary-General said in his message, “With the continuous Israeli bombing, and with the absence of shelters or a minimum level of survival, I expect an imminent complete collapse of public order due to desperate circumstances, which makes it impossible to (provide) humanitarian assistance, even if it is limited.”
He added, “The situation may become worse with the spread of epidemics and increased pressure for mass movements towards neighboring countries.”
Guterres warned, “We face a great danger of the collapse of the humanitarian system. The situation is rapidly deteriorating toward a catastrophe that could have irreversible consequences for the Palestinians and for peace and security in the region.”
He added, “The international community bears the responsibility to use its influence to prevent a new escalation and put an end to this crisis,” calling on members of the Security Council to “exert pressure to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.”
The Zionist entity was quick to denounce Guterres’ move, accusing the Secretary-General of supporting the Hamas movement.
