Honor is reportedly developing the Power3, a smartphone that could feature a massive 14,000mAh battery.
Honor has shifted from simply building phones to creating devices that function effectively as power banks capable of making calls. The upcoming Power3 is reportedly testing a 14,000mAh battery, a figure that would nearly triple the capacity of a device like the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which sits at roughly 4,823mAh.
This isn’t a sudden leap but a calculated, aggressive climb. The original Honor Power arrived in April 2025 with an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. By January 2026, the Power2 pushed past the 10,000mAh mark. Leaks from tipster Digital Chat Station initially suggested the Power3 would land between 11,000mAh and 12,000mAh before rumors bumped the target to 14,000mAh in late June.
Silicon-Carbon Chemistry and the Degradation Risk
To fit these capacities into a chassis under 8mm thick, Honor utilizes silicon-carbon battery chemistry. By replacing traditional graphite anodes with silicon-rich materials, manufacturers can store roughly 10x more energy per gram. However, this efficiency comes with a physical cost: silicon swells by up to 300% during charging.
This constant expansion and contraction can damage the battery from within. According to Memeburn, early adopters of silicon-carbon phones in 2025 saw battery health drop to 91% within just six months, a faster decline than traditional lithium-ion cells. At 14,000mAh, these degradation effects are amplified because there is more material undergoing this stress with every single charge cycle.
Charging Times and Hardware Trade-offs
Raw capacity is a vanity metric if the phone spends half its life tethered to a wall. The Honor Power2, equipped with a 10,080mAh battery and 100W charging, still required over an hour to reach a full charge. If the Power3 hits 14,000mAh, even a 120W charger could push total charge time past 80 or 90 minutes.
This creates a stark contrast with competitors like Xiaomi and OnePlus, who use 100–120W charging on smaller 7,000–7,500mAh cells to achieve a full charge in 35 to 40 minutes.
Weight is the other looming compromise. While the Power2 weighs 216 grams, the Power3 is estimated at around 220 grams. This assumes Honor uses third-generation silicon-carbon density; if they miss those targets, the device could easily exceed 240 grams.
Dimensity 8 Series and Mid-Range Positioning

Despite the record-breaking battery, the Power3 may not be a flagship in terms of processing power. Huawei Central reports that a mysterious 7-inch Honor phone—speculated by netizens to be the Power3—will likely be a cost-effective mid-ranger. It is expected to feature a giant flat screen and a MediaTek Dimensity 8 series chip.
The Dimensity 8 series consists of sub-flagship chipsets running on 4nm and 5nm SoCs. While they offer near top-tier performance and AI NPUs, they are positioned as high-efficiency, lower-price alternatives to the Snapdragon 8 series. This positioning suggests Honor is targeting a specific niche: users who prioritize endurance and screen real estate over raw processing benchmarks.
EU Regulations and Market Availability
The Power3 faces a significant legal hurdle if Honor intends to sell it outside China. European Union regulations cap per-cell battery capacity in portable electronics. Even if Honor employs a dual-cell design, each cell would be 7,000mAh, which Android Authority reported would still likely exceed the EU threshold.
This regulatory wall has historically kept Honor’s biggest batteries domestic. For example, the Honor X80 Pro Max, which features an 11,000mAh battery, remained a China-only launch. There is currently no confirmation of global availability for the Power3.

Honor’s internal strategy appears split. While the Power series chases maximum capacity, the brand’s Robot Phone, launching in August 2026, takes a more balanced approach with a 6,000mAh battery and 120W charging, prioritizing daily usability and camera innovation over raw milliamp-hours.
