The organization, now officially established as an international body, will focus on overseeing administration, security, and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.

Indonesia’s Role in the Board of Peace

Sugiono stated that the participation signifies international acknowledgement of Indonesia’s diplomacy and its views on global and regional peace. President Prabowo Subianto, along with leaders including United States President Donald Trump, signed the Board of Peace declaration, formally establishing the organization.

The Board of Peace will supervise the administration, security, and phased reconstruction of Gaza. It will also oversee the provisional authority in Palestine as it carries out administrative functions within Gaza, Sugiono explained.

“Participation in the Board of Peace is the realization of Indonesia’s strategic, constructive, and tangible steps to support Palestinian independence,” Sugiono stressed.

The reopening of the Rafah border crossing for humanitarian aid and the upcoming establishment of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to maintain peace in Gaza were also highlighted by the foreign minister. He emphasized that Indonesia’s involvement aligns with its long-standing support for the Palestinian cause.

President Subianto described the Board of Peace for Gaza as a “historical opportunity” to achieve peace in the region, reiterating Indonesia’s commitment to the mission for the benefit of the Palestinian people. He affirmed that participating nations share a sincere desire to help Palestinians achieve peace.

In addition to Indonesia and the United States, Hungary, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey have also signed the Board of Peace declaration.
