The Indonesian government aims to construct hundreds of subsidized vertical housing units this year, according to Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar “Ara” Sirait.
Subsidized Housing Development Plans
Minister Sirait stated the government’s determination to develop the housing units in 2026 during an event titled “Strengthening Synergy and Coordination on the Implementation of 2026 Strategic Housing Programs” in Jakarta on Thursday.
Currently, the government is developing regulations for subsidized vertical housing in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure effective and fair implementation this year. Discussions are underway with developers and banks, and Minister Sirait has requested input from prospective consumers.
The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) is prioritizing the interests of the state, the people, and the business community in drafting the provision. Minister Sirait affirmed that this process will involve associations of developers, state-run banks, and residents of subsidized homes to ensure fairness.
Sri Haryati, Director General of Urban Housing at the PKP Ministry, indicated on Tuesday (Jan. 13) that a ministerial decree on subsidized flats is expected to be issued this month. The regulation will address loan interests and tenors.
The Public Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) believes subsidized flats can help address housing backlogs in urban regions. BP Tapera is working to adjust flat prices to address these backlogs and will collaborate with the Ministry of Finance and other stakeholders to determine financing schemes.
