Over 3,200 people have been evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan since February 28, amid escalating regional tensions following military operations against Iran. The evacuations include citizens from dozens of countries, with Azerbaijani nationals representing the largest group.
Iran Evacuations to Azerbaijan
A total of 3,297 people were evacuated between 8:00 on February 28 and 10:00 on April 4.
Among those evacuated, 572 are citizens of Azerbaijan. China accounts for the next largest group with 730 evacuees, followed by Russia with 354, and Bangladesh with 198.
Other nationalities represented in the evacuations include:

- Spain: 26
- Germany: 25

- Bahrain: 16
- Kazakhstan: 13

- Brazil: 9

- Finland, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belgium, United Arab Emirates: Six citizens from each
Additionally, five citizens each were evacuated from Turkey, Serbia, Sweden, Afghanistan, Australia, Austria, Greece, Vietnam, Finland, and Kyrgyzstan. Four citizens each were evacuated from Jordan, Philippines, Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, and Netherlands. Three citizens each were evacuated from Qatar, Croatia, Denmark, and Norway. Two citizens each were evacuated from Nepal, Lebanon, Yemen, Myanmar, Cyprus, and Egypt, and Slovenia.
One citizen each from Tunisia, South Africa, Maldives, Cuba, Vatican, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, Belize and Dominica were also evacuated.
The evacuations began after the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran on February 28, resulting in the deaths of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior Iranian officials. Following these events, Iran began targeting locations in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Cyprus, where U.S. and allied military bases are located, in addition to Israel.
