Diplomatic Efforts for Peace Talks with Iran

The White House initially waited for confirmation from Tehran that an Iranian delegation would be joining the discussions before finalizing travel plans.

The Iranian negotiating team reportedly hesitated to join the meeting. This delay was attributed to pressure from the IRGC to maintain a hardline stance and refuse negotiations without a conclusion to the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Mediators from Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey urged the Iranian team to attend the meeting. According to sources, the delegation did not depart for Islamabad until they received final approval from Iran’s supreme leader.

Vance’s delegation is expected to include special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
