Caitlin Clark set an aggressive tone early for Team Spoon, picking the pocket of Paige Bueckers for a transition score before burying a deep 3-pointer that set the crowd chattering. Team Spoon built an early eight-point lead in the first quarter, eventually stretching the margin to 17 points while never trailing by more than a single point.

Veteran center Jonquel Jones put together a masterclass off the bench, recording 22 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists to lead Team Spoon. With the performance, Jones became the first player in WNBA history to capture league MVP, Commissioner’s Cup MVP, Finals MVP, and All-Star MVP honors.

The accomplishment came during a deeply emotional weekend for Jones, who missed a family member’s memorial to play in the game. She dedicated her MVP trophy to her late aunt, Marilyn.
“When I started the game, once I warmed up, I started to feel good. I talked to my family, and I made sure that it was OK, but my teammates knew, people that were closest to me knew. And so I just wanted to come out here and represent my family well and shout out to my auntie Marilyn. She’s resting in peace now with all the love and this night was definitely dedicated to her.”

Reflecting on her career consistency and longevity, Jones pointed to her childhood aspirations during the postgame press conference.
“This is everything I dreamed about, that I wanted as a little kid. I told my parents when I was five years old that I was gonna be a professional athlete. The plan never changed, even when it looked murky, when I didn’t know how I was gonna get it done. When I was on the phone calling random coaches in the Bahamas, hoping that somebody would give me a chance. That was always the goal.”

While the main event drew a record gate, Saturday’s preliminary competitions delivered historic moments of their own. Azzi Fudd made history during All-Star weekend by becoming the first rookie, first Wings player, and first UConn alumnus to win the 3-Point Contest.

After scoring 24 points in the first round, Fudd poured in 30 points in the championship round to defeat Bridget Carleton. Her 30-point final round tied for the second-highest score in the history of the competition. Fresh off the victory, Fudd used her media availability to throw down a challenge.

Every player on Team Spoon walked away $15,000 richer after the win, marking a dramatic increase from the $2,575 each player received for participating in the previous year’s exhibition. Players on Team Coop also collected $15,000, while Jones earned an additional $20,000 for her MVP performance, up from $5,150 in 2025.

I think when there’s money on the line, you’re always going to see a different type of play, but we wanted to hold ourselves accountable today for playing well and playing a way that is entertaining, Nneka Ogwumike said after the final buzzer.
That financial motivation manifested in active gamesmanship throughout the contest. A’ja Wilson even persuaded coach Cheryl Reeve to challenge an out-of-bounds play during the third quarter simply to give her team a breather, later admitting to reporters that she knew the call would not be overturned. Meanwhile, rookie Olivia Miles dazzled in her All-Star debut, contributing a near-triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists without missing a shot.
