A man is dead after suffering multiple stab wounds in Oshawa, Ontario, Tuesday morning, according to Durham police.
Oshawa Stabbing Investigation
Officers responded to a call in the area of Park Road S. and John Street at approximately 4:15 a.m., the Durham Regional Police Service said.
The man was found outside on Park Road S. with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a Toronto trauma centre where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Park Road S. is currently closed between King Street and John Street due to the ongoing investigation and is expected to remain closed for several hours. There is a heavy police presence in the area.
At a news conference Tuesday morning, Durham police Sgt. Joanne McCabe said the man was located on the roadway. Police do not currently have information regarding a suspect.
“We’re obviously trying to determine who was responsible, and that’s going to be the top priority right now,” McCabe said.
McCabe stated that a nearby residence is believed to be connected to the incident, but that connection is part of the ongoing investigation.
“Anyone with information is again asked to contact the homicide units,” McCabe said. “Our officers are canvassing in the area. We are requesting you approach one of those officers and provide them with any information you may have.”
Resident Reaction
Cheri Bradbury, a resident on the street, said she awoke to pounding on a door and police officers and search dogs in the area.
“Doesn’t make you love the area,” she said. “It’s getting more uncomfortable, for sure.”
Bradbury said she has never seen signs of trouble from the residence police believe to be connected to the incident, but other incidents in the area in recent years have made her wary.
“There’s been some bad stuff [in the area],” she said. “I always have extra locks and stuff on the doors. My landlord has CCTV, so I’m comfortable that way.”
