A militant commander wanted in connection with multiple terrorism and attack cases was killed in a joint police operation in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, authorities said Thursday.

The operation was launched by the Counter-Terrorism Department and district police based on intelligence reports indicating a militant hideout. Police engaged the militants in an exchange of fire.
The militant commander was killed during the firefight, while his accomplices escaped into the area’s difficult terrain. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend those who fled.
Authorities stated the slain militant was a key figure wanted in more than 10 cases, including terrorism and attacks targeting security forces.
