Rabat – IA – Abdel Razzaq Ali

The Moroccan Ministry of the Interior said that it was able to dismantle a terrorist cell loyal to the ISIS terrorist organization, consisting of three individuals between the ages of 25 and 26, active in the cities of Tetouan in northern Morocco and Agadir in the south.

A statement from the ministry, a copy of which was received by our correspondent in Morocco, stated that “in the context of confronting terrorist threats related to the so-called “Islamic State” organization, the Central Office for Judicial Research of the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance was able, on 09/06/2018, to dismantle the cell. The search operation resulted in the seizure of white weapons, a military uniform, manuscripts glorifying extremist ideology and inciting violence, in addition to various electronic devices.

The statement added, “The preliminary investigation confirmed that the suspects had pledged allegiance to the alleged emir of the terrorist organization, and were in the process of planning to carry out terrorist operations in the Kingdom of Morocco using explosive devices and toxic materials,” noting, “This operation and the thwarting of its criminal plans confirms the continuation of terrorist threats and the insistence of those imbued with the ideology.” “ISIS terrorists are committed to committing terrorist acts in various parts of the world, in implementation of the agenda of this organization.”

The Moroccan authorities’ statement continued, “The suspects will be brought to justice immediately after the end of the investigation conducted with the cell members under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.”
