Moza Racing Becomes Official Equipment Partner of Gran Turismo World Series

Moza Racing has been named an official wheel and pedal partner of the Gran Turismo World Series, the premier competition for Gran Turismo 7. This mid-season appointment makes Moza only the third wheel and pedal provider ever to partner with the international championship.

The collaboration marks a strategic shift for the PC sim racing specialist, which currently possesses no PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 compatible devices. As part of the partnership, Moza Racing is developing its first officially licensed PlayStation racing products for use with the PlayStation 5, pending final approval from Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Integration and Broadcast Timeline

The official partnership will first be visible during the next round of the series, scheduled for broadcast on August 15, 2026. This event will be a remote, recorded session filmed at Polyphony Digital’s headquarters in Tokyo, following the cancellation of the Abu Dhabi round. The Moza brand will be integrated into these official broadcasts starting from this second round of the 2026 series.

Technological Synergy and Hardware Development

Kazunori Yamauchi, the producer and father of the Gran Turismo series, stated that his interest in Moza began with their camera stabilization gimbals. Yamauchi noted that gimbals and steering controllers utilize the same technology regarding the precise control of electric motors, leading him to monitor Moza’s reliability and developmental capabilities.

Yamauchi expressed excitement regarding the expanded possibilities to create a steering wheel that is optimal for Gran Turismo, noting that the evolution of consumer-level force feedback steering has been ongoing since Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec. According to reports from playfront.de, the cooperation involves the co-development of a native wheelbase and steering wheel designed for Gran Turismo 7 and the upcoming “GT8.” This will bring Moza’s Direct-Drive technology—including telemetry algorithms, active pedal systems, and flat-wire motors—natively to the PlayStation 5.

Impact on the Sim Racing Market

The entry of Moza Racing into the PlayStation ecosystem challenges the long-standing dominance of brands like Logitech and Fanatec. Specifically, Fanatec had maintained a quasi-monopoly on high-end Direct-Drive wheels with official Gran Turismo branding, such as the Gran Turismo DD Pro. By introducing established PC technology, such as 21-bit high-resolution encoders, Moza is expected to create competitive pressure regarding price-performance ratios for console sim racers.

CY Guan, CEO of Moza Racing, described the partnership as an exciting milestone, stating that the company’s mission is to make professional-grade sim racing more accessible while pushing the boundaries of immersion. Guan added that the company is honored to contribute to a championship representing the best of virtual motorsport.

Current Product Status and Expansion

While the PS5-compatible hardware remains in development, Moza has not yet released specific torque values, specifications, or official release dates. The company recently branched out from the PC market by releasing an Xbox-compatible version of the R3 Racing Bundle, where compatibility is contained within the steering wheel rim.

IT FINALLY HAPPENED! Moza is making a wheel for PS5 and Gran Turismo 7!

Alongside the Gran Turismo announcement, Moza Racing introduced new hardware and expanded its offerings into several new categories:

  • Upgraded R5 Pro and R16 Ultra wheel bases for other platforms.
  • The company’s first motion platform and full motion rigs.
  • Equipment for flight simulation and farming.

Moza Racing has also confirmed plans to attend the SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt.
