Today, Wednesday, the Arabic Calligraphy Fine Arts Exhibition opened in the Emirates with the participation of 7 Arab calligraphers.

The correspondent of the (INA) said: “As part of the activities of the twenty-fifth session of the Islamic Arts Festival, Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Head of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, and Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qasir, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department, Director of the Festival, opened an exhibition.” Arabic Calligraphy between Transfiguration and Authenticity,” which is held in cooperation with the Emirates Fine Arts Society.
He added, “The opening was attended by Muhammad Youssef, president of the association, in addition to a number of artists participating in the festival, and a large audience of Arabic calligraphy lovers.”
He pointed out that “the exhibition included a group of distinctive calligraphy works by (7) Arab calligraphers, namely: Taj Al-Sir Hassan from Sudan, Khaled Hanish from Iraq, Bassem Al-Sayer, Muhammad Al-Haddad from Syria, Hossam Abdel Wahab, Khalifa Al-Shimi, and Fikri Al-Najjar from Egypt.” Al-Owais and Al-Qusair toured the association’s showrooms, where the walls were topped with a group of works with precise compositions based on geometric proportions and solid calligraphy rules, and carrying within them Qur’anic texts, noble hadiths, poems, wisdom, and other texts, while the attendees listened to the calligraphers’ explanations about their work.” .
He continued, “The exhibition combines ancient historical Arabic calligraphy dating back to the fifteenth century (fourth AH), such as the signature calligraphy in the paintings of the Sudanese artist Taj Al-Sir, and new creative methods in contemporary calligraphy, while some calligraphy works attempted to be consistent with the festival’s slogan, ‘Manifestations.’ “, where the texts were intertwined with various vital scripts, including: the composition in the Thuluth Al-Jali script, and the circular composition in the Thuluth Al-Jali script, which is considered one of the most difficult Arabic scripts.”
He pointed out that “the association’s participation in the 25th edition of the Islamic Arts Festival” comes to manifest its vision and integrate with the perspective that reveals the depth of experience of the artists who are members of the association, and to propose artistic works that internalize the components of Arabic calligraphy and its aesthetics, and at the same time explore the necessary contexts involved in the development of Arabic calligraphy. Calligrapher artists, according to the unique care given by Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to culture and visual arts, and the association’s distinguished participation is embodied year after year in every session of the Islamic Arts Festival organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department of Culture in Sharjah.”
