Palworld 1.0 Guide: Best Stats to Prioritize for Early Game Efficiency

Stat Prioritization: Efficiency Over Raw Power

Players jumping into the 1.0 official release of Palworld should prioritize upgrading Weight and Stamina to manage exploration and resource gathering. Selecting a base location is a critical decision in the 1.0 release. While the starting area is accessible, there are better locations further afield. When choosing a site for a starting base, players should consider resource availability, ease of access, and overall aesthetics.

When you finally level up on the beaches of Palpagos, the shiny stat screen practically begs you to dump points into making yourself a combat god. However, you should ignore that urge entirely. Building a glass cannon protagonist just means you are going to spend half your play session walking incredibly slowly back to your base because you cannot carry a basic stack of wood. You need a balanced build centered entirely on mobility and hoarding to survive the early grind.

The Priority Tiers

  • Carry Weight (S-Tier): If you start farming anything, you will quickly realize that you are running out of carry weight almost immediately, given how heavy things like Ore are in particular. You should at least double your carry weight as fast as you can; it is likely your best long-term investment.
  • Health (A-Tier): You are going to have to fight things in this game, and you need to not die in order to do so. Periodic investments in health as you reach higher levels are a must to survive fights, in conjunction with the actual gear you wear.
  • Stamina (B-Tier): You definitely want some early on. You rely on your lungs for literally everything, including sprinting, climbing cliffs, gliding, and dodge-rolling away from a charging boss. Running out of breath in the middle of a firefight means you cannot dodge, so you just awkwardly walk away while a massive laser beam turns you into toast. It is highly recommended to invest around ten upgrades directly into Stamina right out of the gate.

Base Locations and Resource Management

With Palworld 1.0 finally launching, there are many older players starting a fresh playthrough and brand new players jumping on for the first time. While you eventually get to set up multiple bases, your first will likely be the main one you use throughout your playthrough. For those seeking a strategic advantage, the coordinates 156, -397 offer an ideal location for an early-mid game base. This spot features a whopping eight ore nodes for you to mine, along with plenty of trees in easy reach.

New Mechanics in Version 1.0

The massive launch of version 1.0 completely shook up how you optimize your team, and the brand new awakening mechanic sits at the top of the food chain. If you think your max-level monsters are already hitting hard, this “god-mode” upgrade transforms your favorite companions into glowing powerhouses. Awakening a Pal provides a massive, permanent boost to its baseline stats, making it infinitely more effective in high-tier combat or at camp. As a flex, awakened monsters also gain a distinct glowing aesthetic when roaming the overworld.

However, this mechanic is gated behind the version 1.0 endgame content; you must have the latest patch installed to access it. Players should set up a dedicated crafting line for these upgrades, as they cannot be pulled off casually in the safety of a starter base.

Getting Started

Hundreds of thousands of players are embarking on their first adventures into Palpagos. When booting up for the first time, you should open the Survival Guide that Pocketpair placed in the main menu. It can also be viewed at any time during your playthrough via the character menu. It is an impressively thorough source of tips for anyone, covering objectives, how to capture Pals, and your HUD.
