Rally for Matthew’s recovery – Givealittle

A paramedic in his final year of study is critically ill in intensive care after suffering a brain aneurysm and subsequent bleed, prompting a fundraising effort to support his family. The man, identified only as Matt, has a history of congenital heart defects and requires lifelong blood-thinning medication, which complicated the situation following the aneurysm.

Family Faces Challenges Amid Medical Crisis

Matt has undergone several open-heart surgeries, including one that required a mechanical heart valve. This necessitates continuous blood-thinning medication and monitoring. Despite his health challenges, he has dedicated his life to helping others, working as an ambulance officer and pursuing a career as a qualified paramedic.

Recently, Matt suffered a brain aneurysm, causing a significant bleed at the back of his brain. Due to the necessary blood-thinning medication, the bleed progressed rapidly, requiring emergency neurosurgery. He is currently in ICU, and his recovery is uncertain, as brain injuries are unpredictable.

The family lives approximately an hour from the hospital and is also caring for a baby. They are facing financial strain due to loss of income, travel expenses, time off work, and potential future rehabilitation costs.

A fundraising campaign has been established to assist the family with living expenses, travel to and from the hospital, childcare, and any support needed for Matt’s recovery. Donations and messages of support are being gratefully accepted.
