River has finalized the acquisition of Ángel Correa in a transaction structured across seven distinct payment installments. The base agreement demands a total disbursement of US$15 million from Núñez, with the final installment scheduled for April 2029.
Additional performance clauses could add up to 2 million dollars, though internal evaluations indicate those targets remain challenging to reach. While Mexican reports place the total valuation closer to US$19,000,000, club officials maintain that the official base agreement reflects the $15 million baseline.
This financial commitment eclipses the previous club record set by Lucas Pratto at 14 million dollars. Correa’s contract binds him to the institution until December 2029, locking down the 31-year-old forward through the end of the decade.
Turbulent Departure from Mexico and Security Concerns
The path to Buenos Aires proved fraught with friction. Tensions flared during talks as Tigres altered previously agreed-upon conditions, prompting River leadership to threaten walking away from the table entirely.
Beyond boardroom friction, the exit from Monterrey involved severe personal safety complications. The player’s partner, Sabrina Di Marzo, disclosed that threatening messages targeting their children had been received during the negotiations. The escalating security risks forced an abrupt departure from the team’s training camp, with the forward leaving the country aboard a private aircraft before the paperwork was formally finalized.
Despite the hostile environment surrounding his exit, Correa issued a heartfelt farewell via social media to the club from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, where he spent the previous season recording 18 goals and 14 assists across 50 appearances under Guido Pizarro.

Upon arriving in Argentina, Correa completed his medical examinations and visited the Monumental Stadium alongside club president Stefano Di Carlo to formalize his paperwork. He wasted no time joining the squad.
The forward completed his first formal training session under manager Eduardo Coudet and secured an immediate spot on the roster. He joins a busy wave of arrivals that includes Nicolás Otamendi, Rafael Santos Borré, Lucas Beltrán, Mauro Arambarri, and Giovanni González.
