Singaporeans can now bypass immigration queues at South Korean airports thanks to an expansion of the country’s automated immigration clearance system.
Automated Immigration for Singaporeans
The smart entry service auto-gate system has been available to Singaporeans aged 17 and above entering and leaving South Korea since December 1.
Travelers are required to complete a one-time, on-site registration upon arrival at Incheon International Airport. Once registered, the e-gates can be used immediately and at any airport in South Korea on subsequent visits.
Currently, registration is only available at Incheon International Airport, with potential expansion to other South Korean airports in the future. The registration remains valid as long as the traveler’s current passport is valid.
Approximately 380,000 Singaporeans traveled to South Korea in 2024, according to South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Prior to this expansion, Singaporeans were required to queue in the foreigner lane for manual immigration inspection. Passport holders from Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and the UK are also eligible to use the automated system.
