Today, Saturday, the Intelligence Agency announced the confiscation of 58 vehicles and their drivers used for trading and smuggling oil and its derivatives, and the seizure of 15 oil sites within several governorates.
The agency said in a statement received by the (INA): “The detachments of the intelligence agency specialized in combating organized crime received accurate information about a group of oil derivatives smugglers in more than one governorate, and in light of the information, more than one intelligence and technical work team was formed, accompanied by a special force.” To pursue and arrest smugglers, in order to limit the damage to the national economy.”
She added, “These specific operations initiated by the intelligence agency during the past 30 days resulted in the confiscation of (58) wheels and their drivers used for trading and smuggling oil and its derivatives, in addition to the seizure of (15) oil sites and a group of wheels that entered the sites and which are used to smuggle these derivatives within the governorates.” These operations resulted in the confiscation of thousands of tons of oil and its derivatives to the competent authorities.”
She continued, “The defendants’ statements were recorded and they frankly admitted to smuggling oil and its derivatives. The defendants were also referred to the investigative authorities to appear before the judiciary.”
