Farmer and TikTok content creator Lui Vuibureta, also known as “X-con,” apologized to Minister Lynda Tabuya for inappropriate remarks made during a live video and expressed remorse to the Suva High Court.

X-con Apologizes to Minister Tabuya

Vuibureta appeared before Justice Daniel Goundar for the reading of his summary of facts and mitigation submission. His counsel, Eroni Navuda, informed the court that Vuibureta entered an early plea and is sincerely sorry for the harm caused.

Navuda stated that Vuibureta’s family is prepared to offer a traditional apology to the Minister and pay a fine of up to $2,000. The 31-year-old has no prior convictions and has already spent 46 days in remand, Navuda argued, suggesting the public backlash faced by the family should serve as a sufficient deterrent.

The court heard that Vuibureta was heavily intoxicated during the TikTok live and only realized the severity of his actions the following day when the video circulated on Facebook. His lawyer is requesting a suspended sentence.

The State presented Minister Tabuya’s victim impact statement, detailing the effects of the situation.

Vuibureta is also facing separate charges in the Magistrates’ Court for breaching bail conditions, specifically three counts related to failing to surrender travel documents and deactivate his social media accounts.

The matter has been adjourned to March 17, 2026, with Justice Goundar scheduled to deliver his sentence next Tuesday.
