Europe is seeing an increase in female leadership in diplomatic and governmental roles, a shift occurring during a period of heightened global importance. For decades, diplomatic discussions were largely dominated by men, but that landscape is changing across the European Union and within individual nations.
Rise of Women in European Leadership
Currently, three of the top institutional positions within the European Union are held by women, including Ursula Von Der Leyen. Several countries, such as Italy, Ireland, and Bulgaria, also have female leaders.
The discussion centers on what further steps are needed to promote gender equality in leadership, particularly given the current significance of foreign diplomacy.
