India women’s World Cup hero Kranti Goud’s success has led to the reinstatement of her father, Munna Singh, into the Madhya Pradesh Police after a 13-year suspension. The decision, confirmed Monday by Madhya Pradesh Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang, fulfills a promise made following Goud’s performance in the World Cup.

Kranti Goud’s Triumph Restores Family Honor

Munna Singh, a constable, was suspended in 2012 for alleged negligence during election duty. The long-pending matter was resolved following the intervention of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who directed the Police Headquarters to reinstate Singh.

“This decision not only brings relief to the family but also serves as a clear example of the government’s sensitivity, respect for athletes, and fair approach,” Sarang said in a statement. He added that the chief minister had assured Goud during a felicitation ceremony after India’s World Cup win that her father’s job would be restored.

Sarang described the move as a humane gesture, fulfilling Goud’s long-cherished dream. “This decision has not only provided economic and social support to the family, but has also ensured that Kranti’s father can retire with honour in a police uniform,” he said.

Goud’s journey began on a dusty ground in Ghuwara village, where she initially played only when boys were short of players. She taught herself pace bowling by observing others. She was later spotted by coach Rajiv Bilthre, and made her India debut in May of last year. During the recent World Cup campaign, she took nine wickets, including a match-winning spell against Pakistan.
