Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona coach, rejected the departure of one of the players from the Barcelona ranks during the upcoming winter Mercato.
Reports stated that Oriol Romeu, the Barcelona midfielder, will leave the team in the winter, after moving away from the starting lineup.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Sport”, Romeo will not leave Barca next January, because Xavi wants to continue relying on him until the end of the season.
Barcelona signed Romeo as a low-cost option to compensate for the departure of Sergio Busquets from the Catalan team last summer.
The Spanish newspaper pointed out that the recovery of Barcelona’s midfield players from injuries has recently made Romeo get fewer minutes to participate in matches, which caused rumors of his departure from Barcelona to appear.
She explained that Oriol Romeo is highly regarded within Barcelona’s dressing room, because of his personality and good understanding of Xavi’s playing style.
