Xpeng Reveals G9L Full-Size Five-Seat Crossover for Global Markets

Xpeng has officially expanded its vehicle lineup with the introduction of the G9L, a full-size five-seat crossover designed for global markets. The vehicle previously shared its core specifications during the domestic homologation process in China.

The Xpeng G9L is built as a battery-electric vehicle crossover with substantial dimensions, measuring 5120 mm in length, 1999 mm in width, and 1795 mm in height, alongside a wheelbase of 3,100 mm. Opting exclusively for a five-seat interior layout was a deliberate choice by Xpeng to prevent internal market competition between the G9L and the recently launched six-seat GX.

Underneath its exterior, the G9L utilizes a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system pairing a 160 kW electric motor on the front axle with a 270 kW e-motor in the rear. This setup delivers a combined peak power of 430 kW, equivalent to 577 horsepower, enabling the crossover to reach speeds up to 200 km/h. Brand officials emphasized that the crossover stands on an 800V platform, which enables the vehicle to charge 450 km of driving range in just nine minutes.

The exterior styling aligns with the design language introduced by the GX model, showcasing hidden door handles, electrically powered soft-closing doors, a closed front end, pronounced rear fenders, and large 22-inch wheels. Inside, the cabin features front seats equipped with power-adjustable lumbar and side support, while the front passenger seat includes a zero-gravity mode. Additional interior conveniences include a built-in fridge, an augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), and a 1,152-liter trunk.

Technology plays a central role in the G9L package, which incorporates the brand’s second-generation Vision Language Action model driven by four AI Turing chips. This architecture achieves a peak computing power of 2,250 TOPS, providing the necessary processing power for a comprehensive driving assistance suite featuring Navigate On Autopilot and self-parking functions.

Safety and handling claims accompany the vehicle’s debut. According to the brand’s CEO, the G9L achieves the fastest moose test results in its class. Furthermore, the crossover incorporates an aviation-grade redundancy design engineered to meet five-star safety standards across four major global institutions, which are presumed to include Euro N-CAP, C-NCAP, ANCAP, and Global NCAP.

While the official release date for the global model has not yet been announced, ongoing brand activities point toward an imminent market launch. This expansion arrives against a backdrop of shifting sales figures for the automaker; data from China EV DataTracker indicates that Xpeng delivered 134,378 cars domestically during the first half of 2026, marking a 24.5% decline year-over-year.
