Just hours after a marathon meeting on Tuesday, the club’s official announcement confirmed that John Edward had stepped down from his role, ending a tenure that had brought the domestic league title to the White Knights in the 2025–26 season.

The parting of ways followed a lengthy meeting that stretched past four hours between Edward and the Zamalek board of directors, according to reporting from the Masrawy news desk. The core of the dispute centered on contrasting visions for the football department’s immediate future.

The exit turned into a public relations scramble when the official Zamalek mobile app, Zamalkawy, posted a statement declaring that Edward’s journey with the White Knights had officially ended. Roughly ten minutes later, the post vanished, only to be republished on the same official channels shortly after.
