The Egyptian national team earned the ticket to qualify for the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations “Côte d’Ivoire 2023” with difficulty, after a fatal draw with Cape Verde 2-2, in the third round of the second group.
Cape Verde took the lead in the 45th minute through Gilson, but substitute Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” turned the tables by scoring the equalizer in the 50th minute, then setting up a goal for Mostafa Mohamed in the 90th minute + 3.
Before Brian Teixeira equalized for Cape Verde in the 90+9 minute.
The Egyptian national team, led by its Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria, qualified for the eighth final, where it ranked second with 3 points behind Cape Verde, the leader led by its coach Pedro Bobista, with 7 points.
The Pharaohs benefited from Ghana’s 2-2 draw with Mozambique in the same round to officially guarantee qualification in the absence of Mohamed Salah, captain of the Pharaohs, due to injury.
