Boris Johnson revealed details of his final conversation with Prince Andrew, during which he had to prevent the Duke of York from attending a public event due to concerns about embarrassing Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince Andrew and the BBC Interview

The former Prime Minister recounted the meeting, which took place while he was in office, in his recent writing for the Daily Mail. Johnson stated he was tasked with informing Prince Andrew he could not attend a “big public ceremony” following the fallout from his 2019 BBC Newsnight interview regarding his association with Jeffrey Epstein.

Johnson traveled to Windsor to deliver the news, noting that Prince Andrew was “not thrilled.” He attempted to advise the Duke to “be a bit humble” and understand public sentiment in light of the interview. Johnson suggested Andrew needed to “build back his reputation.”

Prince Andrew’s standing has continued to decline since the interview, with recent disclosures of further damaging information. Images reportedly showing Prince Andrew kneeling over a woman have emerged from the latest release of Epstein-related files.

Prince Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has not yet commented on the recent disclosures.

The Duke of York is currently residing in a temporary home before moving to Marsh Farm on the King’s Sandringham estate, and has not been banished to Norfolk.
