The Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) anchors the opening day of the Caulfield Cup Carnival, featuring an 11-horse field tackling the three-year-old mile contest. Trainer Bjorn Baker reported that his star colt Warwoven worked nicely left-handed on Tuesday morning ahead of the race, stating, I have been very happy with him, he came through the Golden Rose really well and his work this morning left-handed was very good.
Baker also addressed the distance query by noting, Warwoven’s mum was a good 2000m horse, and she won a Group 2 in New Zealand over 2000m, so I am very confident that he will get a good mile.
Baker and Busuttin Prepare Horses for Left-Handed Track
Baker expressed caution regarding the left-handed track configuration, noting, Racing left-handed is a little bit of a question mark but we couldn’t be happier with him, he seems really bright and well.
Meanwhile, rival trainer Busuttin reported satisfaction with Blind Raise, highlighting that the son of Ace High has continued to go in the right direction, was pleased with his work at Caulfield on Tuesday morning, and was rapt to draw barrier two. Busuttin acknowledged the competition by stating, He is not the only horse in the race, but he is a serious animal and deserved colt, but I think our horse can beat him.
Baker has also added last season’s Champion New Zealand Apprentice Jockey Amber Riddell to his Sydney barn on loan, stating, She is going well and I have been very impressed with her.

Chris Waller holds a strong hand with four runners in the Guineas field, including Central Europe, Tron Bolt, Diamater, and Something’s Burnin’. Ciaron Maher saddles up a trio of colts featuring Unit Five, Tornado Valley, and Seraphox, while the Freedmans are double-handed with Wolf Gap and Call Me Coach. Baker further commented on the depth of the race and the opposition, noting, third favourite with Waller,
and adding, It is one of those races that has worked out and you have always got to respect him, whatever he is in.
