Channel Islands Storm Goretti: Cleanup & Recovery Efforts

Storm damage continues to be assessed and addressed across the island, with crews working to resolve several tree-related incidents and clear remaining debris. Authorities advise drivers to exercise caution as cleanup efforts are expected to continue for several weeks.

Storm Damage Assessment Underway

An update indicated that 20 sites still require safety checks. Four significant incidents involving fallen trees are being handled with the assistance of contractors.

Howard Davis Park remains closed due to the presence of five large trees that were brought down during the storm and pose a danger to the public.

Emergency services reported that the majority of incidents Thursday night involved requests for assistance, including fallen trees impacting properties and vehicles, blocked roads, and structural damage. Automatic fire alarms were also activated.

A spokesperson thanked the agencies involved in managing the major incident and the public for following safety guidelines.
