TVING has confirmed that CIX member Hyunsuk is joining the cast of the action drama Study Group 2
as the primary antagonist, Ji Young Hyun. This casting news follows production updates regarding fellow star Cha Woo Min, who recently returned to the set after sustaining minor injuries during an action sequence.
Hyunsuk Joins the Cast of “Study Group 2”
The production of the second season of the high school action-comedy Study Group 2
is officially underway, with CIX member Hyunsuk confirmed to play the role of Ji Young Hyun. The character, known to fans of the original webtoon as the primary antagonist of the season, marks a significant addition to the series.
Following initial reports of the casting on July 13, TVING confirmed the news the following day. It is true that Hyunsuk will appear in ‘Study Group 2.’ He is currently filming,
the network stated. Hyunsuk, who debuted as a member of CIX in 2019, has been steadily building his acting career since 2021. He is also slated to appear in the upcoming tvN drama My Bias, My Boss,
which features his Study Group 2
co-star Cha Woo Min.
Production Status and Injury Recovery for Cha Woo Min
While the production moves forward with new cast additions, the set has also navigated safety challenges. It was revealed on July 8 that actor Cha Woo Min sustained injuries while filming a high-intensity action scene for the series. According to reporting from 10Asia, the actor suffered injuries to his ribs and hand, which required an emergency room visit for evaluation.
His agency, JUST Entertainment, provided an update on his condition, confirming that the injuries were minor and that no fractures were found.
“Immediately after the accident, [Cha Woo Min] went to the hospital to be checked as a precautionary measure, and tests found that there were no major issues. He is currently carrying out his filming schedule as planned.”
