The training and qualification official at the Arab Theater Authority confirmed that Gaza will be the spearhead of the activities of the Arab Theater Festival in Baghdad.

The Authority’s training and qualification official, Ghannam Ghannam, told the (INA): “Yesterday evening, the Arab Theater Authority held a conference for the media staff of the fourteenth Arab Theater Festival, at the “Baghdad” Hall in the Department of Cinema and Theater,” stressing that “Gaza will be the capital.” Al-Harba in the festival activities, which is held by the Arab Theater Authority in cooperation with the Iraqi Artists Syndicate and the Cinema and Theater Department of the Ministry of Culture, on the occasion of Arab Theater Day, under the slogan “Towards a New and Renewed Arab Theater.”

He added: “We seek to establish important theatrical formulas created by the youth of Arab theater in order to give a new spirit,” noting that “six hundred and fifty Arab playwrights are gathered by the organization in Baghdad.”

He explained, “In this festival, the youth imposed themselves without coercion or stubbornness, and there is no neutrality towards the youth. On the contrary, they are the majority in all sessions,” pointing out that, “The Arab Theater Authority assigns, for example, a competition in scientific research for Arab youth, and these people will attend the festival.” They will be honored and it will be an important symposium at the College of Arts, and the important thing is that if we review the record of those who won the Al Qasimi Award, we will find that the percentage of young people reaches ninety percent of the youth.”

He stated that “Gaza will be present with us because it presented us with our dignity, our strength, and a new tragedy in Arab and Palestinian history in particular. Gaza is the spearhead of this festival. There will also be a performance from the steadfast Jenin camp, entitled “Gaza Metro,” followed by a symposium on “Theatre and the Culture of Resistance in Palestine.” “And experiences by three Palestinian theatrical groups, including poetry readings in which the Iraqi artist Jawad Al-Shukarji, the Jordanian artist Maram Abu Al-Hija, and the Jordanian musician Abdel Razzaq Matariya participate, and a speech by the Lebanese artist Rafiq Ali Ahmed and the symposium moderator, Dr. Ajaj Salim from Syria. Fath Abdel Rahman, one of the speakers, will speak in it. The most important Palestinian playwrights are Ahmed Abu Saloum from the Sanabel Theater, Hussein Nakhli from the Popular Theater, and Ahmed Tubasi and Yasmine Shalalda from the Freedom Theater in Jenin Camp.
